HAMPTON George R. Gordon "Pete", 82, died Wednesday, June 19, 2013, at his residence. He was the husband of Audrey M. (Markle) Moul Gordon. Pete was born September 18, 1930, in Hampton, the son of the late George W. and Lena (Rowland) Gordon. He was an East Berlin High School graduate, class of 1948. He was a truck driver with McCrorys for over 29 years. Pete attended St. John's U.C.C. in New Chester, and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War as a Staff Sgt. with the 519th AAA Gun Batln. Pete was a member of the New Oxford Social and Athletic Club, the V.F.W. East Berlin, the American Legion, Dillsburg, and the Hampton Fire Co. He was an avid golfer and hunter. In addition to his wife, Audrey, Pete is survived by a son, Carey L. Gordon and his wife, Peggy D. of Thomasville; two daughters, Christy G. Brown of York and Chery L. Gordon of York; a grandson, Hunter Brown of York; step grandson, Brian E. Wilt and his wife, Cindy of Ammisville, Va.; two step great-grandchildren, Emma and Travis Wilt of Ammisville, Va.; and two sisters, Mildred Chronister of Lewisburg, and Teresa Lampley and her husband, Ken of Fairview, Tenn. He was predeceased by three brothers, Charles, John, and O.F. Gordon; and two sisters, Elsie Crawford and Virginia Inskip. Following cremation, a Celebration of Life service will be held Monday, June 24, 2013, at 11 a.m. from St. John's U.C.C., 2243 Hunterstown-Hampton Road, New Oxford, with the Rev. Douglas C. Hahn officiating. There will be a visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be sent to the St. John's U.C.C. Building Fund, 2243 Hunterstown-Hampton Road, New Oxford, PA 17350.
