NEW PARK M. Deane (Jones) McElwain, 88, died Friday, July 19, 2013, at York Hospital. She was the wife of the late William Ellis McElwain. A viewing will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 noon on Thursday, July 25, 2013, at Centre Presbyterian Church, 83 New Park Road, New Park. The funeral service will begin at 12 noon at the church with the Rev. James L. Biller officiating. Interment will follow the service in the church cemetery. J.J. Hartenstein Mortuary, 19 S. Main St., Stewartstown, is assisting the family with arrangements. Born November 6, 1924, Deane was the daughter of the late William M. and Hilda Mae (Brooks) Jones. Deane attended the former Thompson's Business School in York and during the 1940's was employed at Aberdeen Proving Ground. She later worked in the cafeteria at Kennard-Dale High School in Fawn Grove. She was a member of Centre Presbyterian Church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher. She is survived by daughters, Judith M. Harrison and her husband, William of Pylesville, Md., and Kimberly M. Gemmill and her husband, John of Stewartstown; grandchildren, Jason William Harrison and his wife, Amy, Nicole Renee Thurman and her husband, David, Lindsey Gemmill Ryer and her husband, Travis, and Lucas M. Gemmill; great-grandchildren, Hannah Mae, Zoe Eden, Cooper William, and Eli Parker; a sister, Darlene Miller and her husband, Rodney of Felton; and a sister-in-law, Dean Jamison and her husband, George of York. She was preceded in death by a brother, Brooks Jones; and her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Joseph Herbert.
