JACOBUS Delmas E. Ferree, 88, died Friday, November 29, 2013, at his residence. He was the husband of Cecelia M. (Hauff) Ferree. They would have observed their 68th wedding anniversary on December 8, 2013. Delmas was born on January 25, 1925, in Jacobus, a son of the late Spurgeon and Grace (Jackson) Ferree. He had worked as a mason and then retired from Gamlet, Inc. as a welder. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. Delmas was a member of the Dry Run Rod and Gun Club and a life member of the VFW Hellam. He was an avid fisherman. The visitation will be from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 3, 2013, at the John W. Keffer Funeral Homes and Crematory, Inc., 902 Mt. Rose Ave., York. The memorial service will begin at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Brenda Ferree officiating. Burial will be in Mount Rose Cemetery. In addition to his wife, Delmas is survived by a daughter, Denise E. Showers of Seven Valleys; a granddaughter, Michele Mitchell, wife of Matt of York; two great-grandsons, Jacob Mitchell and Evan Mitchell; and a sister, Virginia McWilliams of York. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Dallas Ferree and Glenn Ferree. Memorial contributions may be made to Christ United Methodist Church, 200 N. Main St., Jacobus, PA 17407. KefferFH.com
