YORK Charles Meredith Grab, Jr., 82, died Wednesday, December 4, 2013, at home. He was the husband of the late Lioba M. "Penny" Grab. Born in Columbia, on December 29, 1930, Charles was the son of the late Charles Arnold Grab and the late Eva Edna (Forney) Grab. He was a retired U.S. Army veteran, serving during both the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War. He retired following many years of service at Agway. Charles was a member of St. Rose of Lima Church and a volunteer firefighter for Lincolnway Fire Department for over 30 years. Mr. Grab is survived by four children, Charles R. Grab of Florida, Joseph W. Grab of Oregon, John B. Grab of Red Lion, and Mary J. DePalmer of York; six grandchildren, Bryan C. Grab, Justin C. Grab, Moriah R. Grab, Emma C. DePalmer, Halie M. DePalmer, and Jack R. Berkebile; and one great-granddaughter, Alexis N. Ryer. He was preceded in death by his sister, Betty J. Yeaple. The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday at the John W. Keffer Funeral Homes and Crematory, Inc., 2114 W. Market St., York, with the Rev. Thomas Hoke officiating. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Full military rites will be presented by the York County Veterans Honor Guard prior to service. Burial will be in Holy Saviour Cemetery. Immediately following services, all are invited by the family back to Shiloh Fire Dept. Social Hall, 2190 Carlisle Road, York, for a gathering and reception.
