YORK Ronald Lee Armentrout, 73, passed away unexpectedly at York Hospital on Wednesday, January 8, 2014. He was the husband of Beverly (Goodling) Armentrout, with whom he shared 40 years of marriage. Born on January 8, 1941, in Harrisonburg, Va., he was the son of the late Helen Marie (Comer) Armentrout Witmer and Ervin Armentrout. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Ron retired from Gichner Shelter System in 2012 after 39 years as a supervisor. He belonged to the VFW Post No. 556, Delphia AA, Pleasureville Legion, and the Ninth Ward. "Pop Pop", as he was fondly called, enjoyed fishing, playing pool, and darts. He will be deeply missed by his family. Ron leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Beverly Armentrout of York; sons, Curtis Harlacker of Manchester and Christopher Harlacker of York; daughters, Stacy Hankinson and husband, James, and Tammy Green, all of York, and Kira Keller and husband, Jeremy of Dover; 11 grandchildren, Justin, Nathan, Lacie, Whitney, Harrison, and Bruce Harlacker, Timothy Armentrout, Dallas Masenheimer, Michael Gonzalez, Jr., Kylie Green, and Coby Keller; four great-grandchildren; siblings, John Armentrout and wife, Barb of Red Lion, Janet Carr, Phyllis Hollar, Brenda Beck, and Linda Fry; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brothers, Larry, Mike, Norman, and Gary; and a nephew, Tony. A viewing will be on Saturday, January 11, 2014, at the Gladfelter Funeral Home, Inc., 822 E. Market St., York, from 4 to 6 p.m. The Celebration of Life Service will begin at 6. p.m. with the Rev. Charles Lindeman officiating. The York County Veterans Honor Guard will be performing full military rites at 6 p.m.
