LANCASTER David B. Hess, 93, of York, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, January 25, 2014. He was the husband of Mabel A. Humbert Hess with whom he celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary on November 21, 2013. He was born in Mount Joy, son of the late John Lehman Hess and Mary Brubaker Hess. He worked for Caterpillar Tractor Company, retiring in 1983. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during WWII, from 1944-46, and was a member of the Honor Guard for General Patton's funeral. He attended Grace Baptist Church; and was a graduate of East Donegal High School, Class of 1939. He enjoyed riding horses and motorcycles; was a former member of Lancaster Chapter of the Christian Motorcycle Association. Surviving. in addition to his wife, one daughter, Kathleen (Robert) Fuhrman, York; one daughter-in-law, Anne Hess, Windsor; three grandchildren of whom he was very proud: Suzanne (Gene) Vega, York; Brian (Denise) Fuhrman, York; and Dean (Rosemary) Hess, Jr., Windsor; nine great-grandchildren that he adored; and one sister, Ruth Miller, Harrisonburg, Va. He was preceded in death by one son, Dean Hess, Sr.; and one sister, Anna Stauffer. The Funeral Service will be held at Grace Baptist Church, 1899 Marietta Ave., Lancaster, PA 17603 on Friday at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Marvin Reich, officiating. Interment in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery with Full Military Honors.
