MECHANICSBURG George W. Brenner, 80, formerly of York, died Thursday, February 20, 2014, at his residence. George was the husband of Delores L. (Fuller) Brenner. The couple celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary on August 9, 2013. Born in York, on November 19, 1933, he was the son of the late George W. and Marguerite (Drescher) Brenner. He was a graduate of William Penn High School Class of 1952. In high school, he played football and baseball. He was a U.S. Navy veteran. George was a licensed electrician with Met-Ed, retiring in 1994. He was a member of Union Evangelical Lutheran Church, the Met-Ed GPU Retirees Assoc., the Viking Athletic Association, and the American Legion. He was an avid Penn State and Eagles fan. In addition to his wife, he leaves a daughter, Deb A. Campbell and her husband, Bill of Mechanicsburg; a son, Steve W. Brenner and his wife, Kathy of Harrisburg; and two grandchildren, Emily Campbell and Christine Campbell. He was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Jane Drescher. There will be no viewing. A service to celebrate George's life will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, February 24, 2014, at Union Evangelical Lutheran Church, 408 W. Market St. in York. Officiating will be the Rev. Judith A. McKee. Entombment will be private. The Koller Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., 2000 W. Market St. in York, is entrusted with the arrangements.
