YORK Roy J. Walker, 83, formerly of Somerset, died on Wednesday, February 19, 2014, at the York Lutheran Home at Sprenkle Drive. He was the husband of Patricia A. (Dively) Walker, with whom he celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary on April 24, 2013. He was born in Somerset, to his parents, the late Roy E. Walker and Marion G. (Hoffman) Walker. He graduated from Somerset High School in 1949, got married two years later, and moved to York. Roy worked at Standard Register for 13 years and then worked for the former Duplex Products of Emigsville for 27 years and retired as a production manager in 1993. Roy was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Korean War. He was a member of the Hawk Gunning Club, Kreutz Creek Valley VFW Post #7045, and the Pleasureville American Legion Post #745. In addition to his loving wife, Patricia, he is survived by three daughters, Naomi G. Bloom of Fuquay-Varina, N.C., Kay E. Walker of Conestoga, Pa., and Sandra L. Guerrieri and her husband, Burt of Gunnison, Colo.; two granddaughters, Stephanie Privette of Highlands Ranch, Colo., and Sarah Kotal of Denver, Colo.; and three sisters, Dorothy Bennett, Hazel Kinsinger, and Ruth Ann Nicholson all of Somerset. A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 26, 2014, at the Etzweiler Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 1111 E. Market St., York. The Rev. Larry McConnell and the Rev. Allan Wysocki, interim pastors for Christ Lutheran Church, will officiate the service. Burial will be in Mt. Rose Cemetery. A viewing will be held on Tuesday, February 25, 2014, from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Wednesday from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
