YORK Benjamin F. Deitz, 92, passed away Thursday, February 20, 2014, at York Hospital. A viewing will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, February 26, 2014, at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. Born June 13, 1921, in Shamokin, a son of the late Harry and Christine (Sunbury) Deitz, he retired from GTE/Osram Sylvania. Mr. Deitz was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. Mr. Deitz was a life member of Loyal Order of Moose and Shiloh American Legion, Post 791, and a member of Hellam VFW and Thirteenth Ward Political Club. He was active with both the 25 Year Club and the Breakfast Club at Osram Sylvania, and West Manchester Mall Walkers. Mr. Deitz is survived by three daughters, Betty J. and husband, Harry Beckham of Winnsboro, S.C., Lynda J. Elder and companion, Steven Markey of York, and Cathy A. VonRossum of York; six grandchildren, Pam, Dennie, Jennifer, Cori, Kelly, and J.R.; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; a brother, Harry J. Deitz, Jr. of Shamokin; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers, David, Clyde, and Lewis Deitz; and a sister, Quilla Dean.
