MANCHESTER Francis L. Arnold, 91, of Newberry Township, died at 12 a.m. Wednesday, March 5, 2014, at his residence. He was the husband of the late Marilyn M. (Rouscher) Arnold.Born December 24, 1922, in York, a son of the late Clarence and Bessie (Schaffer) Arnold, he was retired from Stambach and Shindler where he worked as a carpenter. He also served in the U.S. Army during WWII, and was a recipient of the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, motorcycle riding, snowmobiling, and camping, as well as spending time in Clinton and Lycoming County. He also raced stock cars and Go Karts for many years. Mr. Arnold is survived by two sons, Ronald L. Arnold and his wife, Theda of Manchester, and Francis L. Arnold, Jr. and his wife, Dena of Manchester; four daughters, Sharon M. Shaffer and her husband, Charles of Lewsiberry, Donna E. Able and her husband, Ronald of South Daytona, Fla., Linda S. Abel and her husband, Arthur of Manchester, and Karen L. Bokesh and her husband, Dennis of York Haven; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren and a fourth great-great-grandchild is expected. He was also preceded in death by two grandchildren, Sandra Arnold and Chris Abel; a brother, Gene Quickel; and two sisters, Charlotte Holker and Carmen Becker. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, March 10, 2014, at William E. Little Funeral Homes, Inc., 60 S. Main St., Manchester. Viewings will be 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday and 1 to 2 p.m. Monday. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery with military rites presented by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Memorial contributions may be made to White Rose Hospice, 1412 Sixth Ave., York, PA 17403; or to Disabled American Veterans, 4219 E. Trindle Road, Camp Hill, PA 17011.
