RED LION Lorraine Sheetz, 82, passed away surrounded by her family on Wednesday, April 2, 2014, at York Hospital. She leaves behind a loving husband, William Sheetz, who resides at Manorcare North. The couple just celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary in November 2013. Lorraine was born in Red Lion March 12, 1932. She was the daughter of the late Ervin and Marguerite Smeltzer. She worked as a waitress for many years in several of York's finer restaurants, her favorite always being "The Hill" where she made wonderful lifelong friends. She spent 25 years working as a sales consultant for The Longaberger Company and shared her love of baskets with thousands of people in the area. She was one of Jehovah's Witnesses and spent as much time as she could in the ministry sharing the news of the wonderful future she was looking forward to. She enjoyed fishing, crabbing, gardening, traveling and entertaining, but her greatest joy was being with her family. The last few years, she was living with her husband in a home in Red Lion that her own father built and that she grew up in. She always said she came full circle and was happy her last home was also her first. She is survived by her husband, William Sheetz; sons and daughters-in-law, Ken and Susie Buchmyer, Dan and Cheryl Buchmyer; daughter, Jeannine Sueck; daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and Bob Powell of Erie; and step daughter and husband, Linda and Dave Taylor. Her son, Michael Buchmyer preceded her in death in 2004. Lorraine will also be missed dearly by her 12 grandchildren and many great- and great-great-grandchildren who called her "Gabby". She was a wonderful wife, mother, sister and friend. She adored her family and considered them her greatest accomplishment in life. A memorial service will be held at the Red Lion Kingdom Hall on Boxwood Road on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at 4 p.m. Even though Lorraine died from cancer, which she fought valiantly for a year, in lieu of flowers, she would have wanted any donations to be made in honor of her husband to the Greater Pennsylvania, 2595 Interstate Drive, Suite 100, Harrisburg, PA 17110. The John W. Keffer Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., York, assisted with the arrangements. KefferFH.com
