Richard Perkinson Obituary

YORK Richard Paul Perkinson, 84, entered into rest Sunday, January 25, 2015, at his home with his loving wife by his side. He was the husband of Ruth A. (Leitheiser) Perkinson for 55 years. Viewings will be 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday with an 8 p.m. recitation of the Rosary at John W. Keffer Funeral Homes and Crematory, Inc., 902 Mt. Rose Ave., and 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Patrick Church, 231 S. Beaver St. The Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. at the church with the Rev. Keith Carroll as celebrant. Full military rites will be presented by the York County Veterans Honor Guard at the church, prior to the mass. Burial will be in Holy Saviour Cemetery. Mr. Perkinson was born June 1, 1930, in York, a son of the late Russell James and Edith B. (Kibler) Perkinson. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany during the Korean War. He retired from Caterpillar after 32 years, where he was a machine operator. He was a lifelong member of St. Patrick Church, the National Rifle Assn. and a member of the United Auto Workers Union. Prior to his illness, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, casinos, yard sales and bingo. He was generous and often gave to those in need. He loved his family dearly and his greatest joy was spending time with them. Richard is survived by his wife; children, Deborah Cosgrove and her husband Leonard of York, Theresa Anderson and her husband Rodney of Dover, Patricia Williams and her husband Randy of Manchester; grandsons, Robert and Howard Cosgrove; three sisters, Virginia L. Reese and her husband Rodney, Betty Jane Anderson, and Jeanne Marie Whare; a brother, Barry Perkinson; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Esther Carroll; and brothers, Thomas Perkinson, Donald Perkinson, Russell James Perkinson, Wilbur James Perkinson and Charles Robert Perkinson.
