June E. Krouse Swope
EAST BERLIN
June E. (Dentler) Krouse Swope, 82, formerly of Shiloh, passed away Friday, December 18, 2015, at York Hospital. She was the wife of Floyd M. Swope of East Berlin and the late Harold N. Krouse.
Mrs. Swope was born in Dover, on June 2, 1933, daughter of the late Clayton and Mary (Wolgamuth) Dentler.
June was a 1957 graduate of Empire Beauty School and was the owner and operator of the former June Ellen Krouse Beauty Salon for 58 years. She was also a former auditor for West Manchester Twp. for 20 years.
She was a member of Shiloh Evangelical Lutheran Church and the Hairdresser's Assoc. In addition, she volunteered with the Republican Party Election, helped with functions at the Shiloh Fire Co. and with their food tent at the The York Fair for many years, and assisted in the composition of the West Manchester Twp. Bicentennial Book.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by three daughters, Deborah L. Roach of Dover, Diane E. Shillott and her husband, Michael of York, and Sharon A. Rakowski and her husband, Frank of Harrisburg; 13 grandchildren, Christopher Roach, Jeremy Roach, Cristy Peyton, Stephanie Miller, Mindy Miller, Megan Miller, Kyle Miller, Michael Shillott, Jr., Steven Shillott, Aaron Schafer, Bryce Schafer, Alyssa Schafer, and Patrick Stewart; 18 great-grandchildren; six stepchildren, Sharon L. Kunkle of Dover, Donna L. Swope of York, Jeffrey W. Swope of Dover, Shonna L. Swope of Georgia, Sonya M. Swope of East Berlin, and Susan Stewart of Florida; numerous step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren; three sisters, Carrie Smith of Elizabethtown, and Jean Smith and Fern Hays, both of York; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Archie K. Miller; and three brothers, Calvin, Ray, and Charles Dentler.
Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 22, 2015, at Shiloh Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2201 Church Road, York. Officiating will be her pastor, the Rev. Kathy Swords. Final resting place will be in Shiloh Cemetery. There will be a viewing from 1 to 2 p.m. at the church prior to the service.
At the family's request, please make contributions in June's name to the Shiloh Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2201 Church Road, York, PA 17408.
The family would like to extend a very special thank you to the nursing staff of 4 SW, York Hospital.
