S. Catherine Wolfe Obituary
York
S. Catherine H. (Herman) Wolfe, affectionately known as Memaw, 94, passed away Tuesday, August 30, 2016, at her residence. She was the wife of the late Fred O. Wolfe.
Mrs. Wolfe was born in York, January 31, 1922, daughter of the late Adam and Lizzie A. (Fisher) Herman.
She was employed as a teacher in the West York Area School District, retiring July 31, 1977. She was a 1939 graduate of William Penn High School, and a 1943 graduate of Shippensburg University, with a Bachelor's of Science Degree in education.
She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, York. Additional memberships include, Daughters of the American Revolution, Daughters of the American Colonists, Pennsylvania Retired Teachers Assoc., and the Moose Lodge.
Catherine, an avid Penn State Football fan, enjoyed summers at the beach in Oceanview, DE, winters in Fort Myers, FL, camping, boating, fishing, and traveling to fairs serving "Wolfie's French Fries."
Survivors include three daughters, Nancy E. Sebastian of Columbia, MD, Nadine E. Tawney and her husband, Rick of Jacobus, and Norina E. Bentzel and her husband, Jim of York; seven grandchildren, Dennis R. Moore, Ronald P. Tawney, Jennifer L. Knepper, Ryan A. Bentzel, Kristina M. Connelly, Amanda M. Bentzel, and Joshua A. Bentzel; eight great-grandchildren, Shannon M. Moore, Summer A. Tawney, Paige E. Tawney, Brooke E. Knepper, Brett M. Knepper, Alexandra N. Tawney, Hunter A. Connelly, and Amelia M. Bentzel.
Funeral service will be 1:30 p.m., Thursday, September 1, 2016, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 250 Trinity Rd., York. Officiating will be her pastor, Sally Gausmann. A viewing will be held from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Final resting place will be in Greenmount Cemetery, York.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church, 250 Trinity Rd., York, PA 17408, or to the S.P.C.A., 3159 Susquehanna Trail N., York, PA 17406.
Arrangements were entrusted to the LeRoy R. Leber Funeral Home, Inc., 2290 School St., York (Shiloh).

So sorry for your loss when we first moved on the hill I remember how sweet your mother was and how she loved and cared for all the cats that came around I know how much she was loved and all that the family's did for her she will be missed but she no longer has to suffer.

Sorry to hear of your loss. I had Mrs. Wolfe in fourth grade at Sunset Lane. I loved seeing the old photos. It was funny how Darlene and Rob ended up working with Nancy. You are in our prayers.

I had Mrs. Wolfe as my teacher in 4th grade (1955-56) at Consolidated School on RT#30. Sorry to hear of her passing. I found this picture years ago and I have no idea how I have it. Maybe my parents took it sometime during that 4th grade year.

Prayers of peace for all of the Wolfe family. Mrs. Wolfe was such a wonderful teacher. She was so kind, very motivating and commanded respect; the perfect mix for a teacher. She helped many of us in developing the skills we needed to be successful students and citizens. Her legacy lives on in those she taught.
