Ernest E. Snyder, Sr. YORK Ernest E. “Ernie“ Snyder Sr., great father and friend, 66, died Saturday, March 15, 2003 at his residence. He was the husband of Nancy L. (Kohler) Snyder to whom he was married to for 34 years. Mr. Snyder was born in York on February 9, 1937. He was the son of the late Mazie (Hildebrand) Snyder. Mr. Snyder retired from York Wallcoverings Company. He was a local musician for over 50 years playing in various bands. He had his own band named the Royal Four. He made his own guitars both electric and Acoustic, did taxidermy and was a television technician. Mr. Snyder is survived by one son, Ernest E. “Dum“ Snyder, Jr. of York; a daughter, Eva Shearn of Biglerville; one stepson, Harold F. Gentzler, Jr. of York; two stepdaughters, Marguerite M. Smith and Rhonda A. and her husband David A. Dunlap of Windsor; one sister, Eva Byerts of York; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Mr. Snyder was predeceased by a son, Edwin E. Snyder. A funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, at the John W. Keffer Funeral Home, Inc., 2114 West Market St., York, with Rev. John M. Harman officiating. Viewing will be from 12 noon to 1:30 p.m. Burial will be in Dallastown Union Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the SPCA, 66 Big Mount Road, Thomasville, PA 17364.
