William Alan Snead, 68, of Rockingham, N.C., passed away Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at Hospice Haven in Rockingham. Alan was born January 20, 1946 in Richmond County, a son of the late William Grady and Lois Ellen McKenzie Snead. He had served his country in the U.S. Air Force, was a member and Elder of Cameronian Presbyterian Church and had retired from Southern Builders. Alan was one of the original members of the Cameronian Boys Quartet, a member of the Optimist Club, S & K Hunt Club, Eight Point Hunt Club and was an avid outdoorsman. He was preceded in death by his brother, Randy Snead; and sister, Carol Howell. Surviving are his wife, Vivian Honeycutt Snead of the home; son, Chris Snead (Jenny) of Rockingham; daughter, Jill Lucas (Chris) of Mt. Gilead; grandchildren, Kelby Snead, Ethan Snead, Thomas Alfredson, Zac Lucas and Evan Lucas; brothers, Steve Snead of Hamlet and David Snead of Rockingham; and sister, Linda Coward of Rockingham. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday at Cameronian Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Wyatt Coley officiating. Interment, with military honors, will follow in Northam Cemetery. The family will see friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday at Cameronian Presbyterian Church and at other times at the home.
