Mr. Bradford Phifer, Boyd Lake Road, Hamlet, died Saturday, August 17, 2013, at First Health Richmond Memorial Hospital, Rockingham.

He was born in Marshville, son of James Conley Phifer and Alma Traywick Phifer

He was a veteran of US Army Air Force during WWII and stationed in Hawaii, a member of Hamlet American Legion and Hamlet VFW. He had many loves, one was his beloved CSX railroad, from where he retired after 471/2 years. He was a car supervisor, but his favorite thing was being a wrecker foreman. He took great pride in getting the train cars back on track and was the best at his job. He also was an avid fisherman and hunter, owning the Hamlet Hunt Club since the mid 1960's. In his later years his family became his focus. He loved his family and having everyone together. He especially was happy when his girls and grand-babies gathered at his home "Phifer Hill" for family functions.

One of his favorite pastimes was to sing his little rhymes or "ditties", as the family called them. He loved to sing to you and make you smile. A lasting impression was made on each and everyone that he came in contact with. He will truly be missed by all.
