George Patterson Scott, 68, of Laurinburg, N.C., passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2013.
He was born in Charleston, S.C., on March 12, 1945. He was the son of George Patterson Scott Sr. and Ruth Williams Scott.
He was a Vietnam veteran that proudly served with the U.S. Marine Corps. He was the owner and operator of Highland Electric Company that has served Scotland and surrounding counties for over 30 years of service. He loved Jesus and was a longtime member of New Life Christian Fellowship where he also served as church elder.
He was a devoted family man and he especially cherished his time with his granddaughters. He was a caring man and a special friend to so many. He was an avid bridge player and a member of the Lettuce Worship Reunion Group from the Sandhills Emmaus Community.
He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Cathy Carpenter Scott of their home in Lauringburg; daughter, Shae Scott Parsons and husband Shannon Parsons; granddaughters, Rachel, Molly and Lilly of Weddington; sister, Gale Allabach of Raleigh; and a host of very special friends.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel. It will be officiated by Pastor Tom Kinder.
Burial with military honors will follow service at Hillside Memorial Park.
The family will be receiving friends at their home and immediately following the service at graveside.
