DONAVAN EDWIN YOUNG
ROCKINGHAM — Donavan Edwin Young, 45, of Rockingham, died Monday, Dec. 17, 2018 at Richmond County Hospice. He was born Feb. 7, 1973 in Stuart, Virgina a son of David Al and Linda Belton Young.
Donavan was a devout Christian who shared the word of God with everyone he met. He was a loving husband, father, son brother and friend. He was graduate of Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virgina with a Bachelor's in Psychology & Criminal Justice. Donavan spent his entire adult career dedicated to serving as a law enforcement officer, detective and great leader for the Rockingham Police Department, the Richmond County Sheriffs Department, the Asheboro Police Department and High Point Police Department.
A memorial service will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 22, 2018 at Second Baptist Church with Rev. Chris Hawks, Rev. Tim Lavinder and Rev. Ernie Walters officiating.
In addition to his parents, Donavan is survived by his wife, Alanna Blakley Young; daughters, Lydia and Piper Young of the home; brother, Chris (Laura) Young of Hope Mills; brother-in-law, Chad Blakley of Reidsville; niece, Julianna Young of Rockingham; nephews, Steven and Bradley Young of Hope Mills; grandmother, Vivian Belton of Rockingham; grandfather Curtis Young of Stuart, Virginia.
Donavan was preceded in death by grandfather, Jack Belton; grandmother, Lena Young; father & mother-in-law, John and Tina Blakley.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday prior to the service at the church and at other times at his home.
