Lonnie Ray Weatherford, 74, of Rockingham, N.C., went to be with our Lord and Savior Monday, Nov. 11, 2013.

He was born on Aug. 13, 1939. He was the son of John Off and Annie Piggrum Weatherford.

He was a retired veteran serving with the U.S. Army Special Forces.

He is preceded in death by his late parents and stepdaughter, Linda Owens.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Mary "Chris" Weatherford; stepchildren, Kim Stutts, Randall Wright and Erica Eanes; multiple step-grandchildren including step-granddaughter, Crystal Durdin; sisters, Ruth Hatcher, Myrtle Coleman and Evelyn Outlaw; and nephews, Tommy Weatherford, Johnny Weatherford and Randy Coleman.

The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. with a service at 7 p.m. Thursday at Believers Outreach Ministry in Rockingham. Pastor Tommy Weatherford will be officiating.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Johnny Abee officiating.

Burial will follow the service at Mt. Zion Community Cemetery in Cornelius.

Cavin-Cook Funeral Home of Mooresville is serving the Weatherford family.
