Jonathan "J.T." Michael Tyson, 28, of Charlotte, N.C., died May 26, 2014 in Concord as the result of an accident.

He was born Nov. 26, 1985 in Charlotte, the son of Sandra Shaw Tyson and Floyd Michael Tyson.

Jonathan graduated from West Stanley High School and Central Piedmont Community College. He obtained his commercial driver's license and traveled the entire U.S.A. He was employed by R&L Carriers of China Grove, N.C.

His love of life, work and caring for others shall be our treasure and lessons forever. He raised four young boys as if they were his own — an exceptional father figure. Many times working two jobs, he made sure his family was taken care of!

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Nevaeh Andrea Tyson, who was 2 years old; maternal grandfather, Johnny R. Shaw Jr. (Randy); and paternal grandfather, Okey Tyson.

Survivors include his parents, Sandra Shaw Tyson of Rockingham and Floyd Michael Tyson of Charlotte; grandparents, Lynda and Sonny Garrison of Hamlet and Marian Tyson of Charlotte; brother, Trevor Tyson of Charlotte; daughters, Journey Tyson (3 years old), Alexa Eudy and Arianna Conners; special aunt, Diane Tyson of Charlotte; cousins, James and son Scottie Tyson; and uncle, Randall Shaw of Charlotte.

Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. on Friday at Faith Free Will Baptist Church. The funeral will begin at 2 p.m. with the Rev. David Lee, uncle, and the Rev. Scottie Tyson officiating. Burial will follow at Richmond Memorial Park, Rockingham.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hamlet Fire and Rescue, 201 Main St., Hamlet, NC 28345 or Faith Free Will Baptist Church, 657 Airport Road, Rockingham, NC 28379.
