Carl "CL" Almon Jr., 76, died Feb. 5, 2014, in Jamaica, N.Y.
Almon was formally from Ellerbe, the son of Archie Carl and Dora Powell Almon. He was a graduate of Mineral Springs High School in Ellerbe. Almon served in the U.S. Navy and U.S. Air Force. He was married to Rosa Lee Stevens-Almon.
Almon was employed with JFK Airport as a supervisor/mechanic for more than 30 years. He was well-known, helped and loved people.
Almon was preceded in life by his wife, Rosa Lee; and two brothers, Paul Almon of Boston and Rufus Almon of Brooklyn.
Almon is survived by two children, Lavada Torres of Florida and Carl Antonio Almon of Texas; five grandchildren; and five sisters, Ruth (Sis) Ellerbe of Richmond, Va., Virginia Dumas of Boston, Eldora Crouch of Atlantic City, Thelma Broady of Rockingham and Frances Williams of Ellerbe.
