Jeanette Gibson Roller, age 65 of Hamlet, N.C., went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, March 22, 2014.
She had been under the loving care of the Richmond County Hospice Haven whose nurses and staff helped her through the final stages of her battle with breast cancer.
Jeanette was born December 11, 1948 to the late Everette L. Gibson and the late Julie Mae Smith Gibson. She was a graduate of Hamlet High School and the University of North Carolina at Pembroke where she graduated first in her class. She held multiple degrees and believed in sharing her time and knowledge with others. She dedicated her life to education, working at Richmond Community College and for both the Richmond County and Scotland County school systems prior to her retirement.
Jeanette had a loving and caring spirit and was faithful to her Lord even through the pain she faced in her battle with cancer. She shared her time and assets in service to the Lord as an active member of the United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women, serving in many offices including District President. She was also active in the Epiphany Ministry and the Walk to Emmaus.
Surviving Jeanette are her husband, Randy Roller, her son Matthew Carpenter, her daughter Donna Carpenter Taylor and spouse Robert, her beloved grandson, Presley Rayne Taylor, all of Hamlet; her brother, Donald Thomas Gibson and wife Bobbie of Rockingham.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church in Hamlet. Visitation will precede the service from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. and also immediately following the service at the church.
The family suggests that memorials be made to Richmond County Hospice, 119 N. US Hwy 1, Rockingham, NC 28379 or the First United Methodist Church, 300 Charlotte Street, Hamlet, NC 28345.
