Dreesen, Marian E.*  
Marian E. Dreesen, a teacher at St. Francis Catholic School and member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church in the Foothills, passed away on Saturday, September 13, 2014 in Des Moines, IA. She was born September 27, 1921 at Laurel, Nebraska to Edward and Elsie (Linder) Carlson. Marian attended Concord High School and graduated as the salutatorian. She attended Luther College and Wayne State College in Nebraska where she began her teaching career. She married Duane Dreesen on June 22, 1947 at Wynot, NE. They lived east of Hartington, NE where Duane operated the Dreesen Motor Company and Marian taught school. They were blessed with five children: Don, Diane, Darla, Donna, and Duane II. Duane and Marian moved to Yuma in 1987 and lived in the Foothills area. They were avid antiquers and traveled across the U.S. to swap meets and events as they restored antique automobiles, motorcycles, and tractors. Marian was the Librarian at St. John Neumann, tied quilts, served as lector and Eucharist Minister, initiated and organized First Friday and First Saturday Adoration, and was a member of St. Ann Guild. She was a life-long teacher and loved books. She also volunteered as a judge for Arizona Odyssey of the Mind. Survivors include her children: Don (Kathy) Dreesen of Columbus, NE, Diane (Kevin) Brummer of Ankeny, IA, Darla Dreesen (Bill King) of Yuma, AZ, and Matt (Valerie) Dreesen of Chesterfield, MO; 16 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sister, Connie Lundahl of Maricopa, AZ; sister-in-law, Florence (Merlin) Zang of Glenwood Springs, CO; brother and sister-in-law, Darrell and Colleen Dreesen of Hartington, NE. Marian was preceded in death by her husband, Duane in 2006; her daughter, Donna Koch in 2012; sister, Donna Belle; brothers, JR and Pete Carlson; brothers-in-law, Dick Utecht and Glenn Lundahl. A memorial Mass will be held on Monday, February 15, 2016 at St. John Newmann Catholic Church, 11545 E. 40th Street, Yuma Foothills. Please sign the guestbook at

Dresden, Larry Ray* - Somerton  
On March 18th, 2015 Larry Ray Dresden passed away at his Yuma residence Larry was born in Linton, Indiana on September 22nd, 1952. He graduated from Durand High School in Durand, Wisconsin in 1970. He moved to Yuma, AZ immediately after graduating. He graduated Arizona Western College with an Associates Degree in Drafting Design and Technology. Larry was a retired City Surveyor for the City of Yuma after 15 years of service. He also taught basic surveying courses part-time at Arizona Western College. He worked for the Yuma County Assessor's Office and Public Works Department. He worked as a surveyor at the American Girl Mine. He also owned and operated Dresden Surveying Inc. He was a licensed surveyor in Arizona and California and worked for a variety of engineering companies in the Yuma area. Larry was an avid dart player and enjoyed the outdoors. He often would camp in the Arizona and California deserts. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He is survived by his two daughters, Lisa and Nancy Dresden; two sons; Daniel and Matthew Dresden; his siblings; Judy Throne and Carol Dresden; his grandchildren; Teaira and Nathaniel Skinner, Mia and Lucas Dresden. Dani is survived by her husband, Michael Downs; sons, Robert, Brandon, and Matthew Ingram; daughter, Candice Madrid; mother, Romaine Martin; brothers, Stephen, Robert, and Samuel Martin; sisters, Melody Stant, Loana Martin, Penny Wheeler; ex-husband, Robert Ingram; and 6 grandchildren. Larry Ray Dresden, 62, died March 18, 2015, at his Yuma home. A retired civil engineer for the city of Yuma, he was born Sept. 22, 1952, in Linton, Ind. No services are planned. Desert Valley Mortuary and Crematory is handling arrangements, including private cremation.
