Suverkrup, Frieda* - Yuma
Frieda was born December 2, 1932, in Dubuque, Iowa, daughter of Carl and Edna White. She was confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Dubuque. Frieda accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and was very active in many churches throughout her life. She graduated in 1950 from Dubuque Senior High School. On August 30, 1953, she married Henry Suverkrup at St. Paul Lutheran Church, and they lived most of their life in Arizona. Frieda was a wonderful mother and wife. She was also very active in her community. She worked with the Yuma Fine Arts Association and with her efforts and that of many others, they transformed the railroad depot into a beautiful museum. This took a lot of effort from all sides; manual, creativity, and fundraising. After many years it is still standing. In state meetings, she was recognized as someone who knew the business and was seen as a financial adviser to nonprofit organizations. Frieda was also given the responsibility of greeting people on arrival because she was well known and liked. Frieda worked with Wickenburg Friends of Music as a long term treasurer, taking care of assets and expenditures. Each month, it was a balancing act between the two, especially when times were difficult. People wanted the best in production with limited available assets. She was always accurate in her estimates regardless of the pressure. Frieda also worked with Wickenburg Community Services Organization as a financial adviser and many other responsibilities. The organization helped families who were in need. At Christmastime, there was a real need, but also year round. It was her job to see that the finances were in order and assets were not overspent. Frieda also had some hobbies throughout the years that make us smile. She loved to collect piggy banks, try new recipes, bake, and entertain. She enjoyed putting together puzzles and would glue them together to hang them up. Frieda Suverkrup, 83, passed away at home in Cottonwood, Arizona, on February 28, 2016, from natural causes, with her family by her side. Frieda is survived by her husband, Henry; children Kim (Max) Wennet and Troy Suverkrup; grandsons Troy Wennet and Tyler (Alexa) Wennet; siblings Charlotte Vanderbilt and Robert (Mable) Witte; and brother in law Walt Hedrick; and her nieces and nephews, Virginia (Rick) Maus, Mark, Roger, Lessa and Ross (Linda) Vanderbilt, Debbie, Kathy, Beth, and Lorie Witt, Kevin Hedrick, and Cheryl (Bob) and Emily Esmail.
