Hobert O'Dell Rose, 94, Command Sergeant Major, USA, Retired, passed away Thursday, March 13, 2014 in El Paso, TX. He was born September 29, 1919 in Havana, AR to William and Julia (Rogers) Rose.
Hobert retired from the Army
in 1967 and moved to Yuma to begin a new career in citrus farming. He and his wife, Neva, resided in Yuma until 1997 when they moved back to El Paso. They were married 68 years, separated by her death on March 7, 2011. Hobert proudly served his country for over 26 years in the US Army from WWII
, Korea and Vietnam and received numerous awards. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars
, the Masonic Lodge and Scottish Rite.
Hobert was also preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Bertha Churchman and Dovie (Bill) Sumner; his brothers, Jack Rose and Otis (Elizabeth) Rose; and his sons, LTC Robert Rose and CW4 Donald Rose. He is survived by his son, Thomas (Joan) Rose, Williamston, MI; daughter-in-law, Nancy rose, El Paso; his brother and sister-in-law, Hubert and Hortense Rose of Yuma; his sister-in-law, Lupe Rose, Prescott, AZ; plus numerous nieces and nephews. He was blessed with six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 21, 2014 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at San Jose Funeral Home-East, 10950 Pellicano Dr., El Paso, Texas. Graveside service and burial will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Fort Bliss National Cemetery in El Paso. Funeral service arranged by San Jose Funeral Home (915) 590-8700.
