Janet Bray Stillman, died Tuesday, April 22nd, 2014 at the age of 69, after a heroic and inspired battle with breast cancer
, for whose ass she kicked for eight years. While most people succumb to cancer, our mother seemed mostly to frustrate it. While we could go on about her battle with cancer, perhaps we will only acknowledge it as much as she did.
Janet touched many hearts, as evidenced by the stream of people coming through, both before and since her death. She was brilliant, beautiful and caring. People were drawn to her. She was an amazing listener. She listened to you the same way she did everything for which she deeply cared, with passion, with her whole heart. That is how she listened, cooked, lived and loved you.
She raised her children to be independent and fabulous, set by her example. She was our muse. She lived her life to the fullest. Janet knew true love like few get to. Her and our father shared the greatest love affair, one that lasted 43 years. The depths to which she will be missed by all of us who were lucky enough to have loved her are impossible to capture with the words we struggle with here.
Janet is survived by, well, the rest of us... her husband, Alan Bruce Stillman; son, Jason Stillman; daughter, Joanna Wildhart; and four grandchildren, Sebastian, Grace, Ireland and Chloe.
We want to thank Hospice of Yuma for the invaluable support. If you wish, in her memory, you may donate to https://www.hospiceofyuma.com/donate.
