Kathryn Jo Holland

Kathryn Jo Holland, a long-time resident of Yuma, age 85, beloved wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, great-aunt and friend was embraced by the Lord and taken to his heavenly home Sunday, November 18, 2012.

She was raised in Oklahoma; made loving homes for her family in California, Florida, Venezuela and Yuma; and worked at Yuma Proving Ground for over 30 years. In her free time, she also worked at the Potting Shed and was a Deacon at the First Presbyterian Church where she also sang in the choir. Her parents were among the first Homesteaders who moved to Yuma. She loved her many friends and valued the wonderful times she spent with them.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Holland; her father and mother, Hugh and Aura Johnston of Yuma; her brothers Ed, Don and Alvin Johnston, all of Yuma; a sister, Ruth Watson of Medford, Oregon; and a grandson, Matthew Priem of Austin, Texas.

She is survived by her brother, Leon Johnston of Yuma; sisters-in-law Pat and Carol Johnston of Yuma and Ginger Mills of Desert Hot Springs, California; her son, Rod Holland of The Villages, Florida; her daughter, Janice Priem of Charlotte, North Carolina; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, 598 South 7th Avenue in Yuma at 1 PM on Saturday, with the Rev. C. Phillip Courtney officiating. Burial will be at Desert Lawn Cemetery.
