Roy Oliver Boyer

Roy O. Boyer passed away Saturday, February 22, 2014 in Yuma, Arizona. He was born in Alliance, Nebraska in October, 1921 to Roy and Maud Boyer. As a youth, he was a member of 4-H, raising farm animals. In May 1942, Roy married Louise Nielsen of Alliance. Four children joined this family, Steven (Vicky) Boyer of Thermopolis, WY, William [deceased} Boyer, Kathryn (Dave) Ramsey of Thermopolis, WY, and Susan (David) Pond of Yuma, AZ. He had ten grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and through his second marriage six step children.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Louise in 1981; his second wife, Rita Sue in 2009; three of his four sisters; and one son. He spent the first 65 years of his life in Nebraska and Wyoming as a farmer/rancher and owner/operator of Sheridan Livestock Commission Company in Rushville, Nebraska. He later worked for the Nebraska Stockgrowers Association. In semi-retirement he lived in Chino Valley, AZ and was a field representative at the Prescott Livestock Auction. His final years were spent in Greensburg, KS then Yuma, AZ.

A Mass is being offered in memory of Roy Boyer at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 13, 2014 at St. Francis Church, 1815 S. 8th Ave, Yuma. Johnson Mortuary is handling arrangements. Burial and services will be in Alliance, Nebraska in the summer with the date pending. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to "AZ Talking Book Library", 1030 N 32nd Street, Phoenix, AZ 85008.
