Carolina Lomeli

1923 - 2011

Carolina Lomeli, 87, passed away peacefully accompanied by her family on Thursday, March 3, 2011. She was born June 1, 1923 in Pilares, Mexico to Guadalupe Molina and Aurelio Reyes. She was married for 61 years to Patricio Lomeli who preceded her in death and with whom she built a strong and beautiful relationship in which to raise a family. She emigrated from Mexico with her family and became a longtime resident of Somerton, Arizona.

Carolina was a beautiful, gentle and loving woman who was very prayerful and devoutly prayed the Rosary every day of her adult life. One of her pleasures was to enjoy a good cup of coffee after the Rosary in the afternoon. She was a very active member at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish in Somerton, being a longtime member of the Guadalupanas. The center of her life was to care for her family, extending her love to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She lead by example and imparted a sense of fairness in her children and by extension her grandchildren.

Carolina is survived by her three children, Manuela (Carlos) Ozuna, Francisco (Alicia) Lomeli, and Ricardo (Ramona Corrales) Lomeli; as well as eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; son, Jose Lomeli; sisters, Artemisa Lara and Lina Lara.

Viewing will take place Thursday, March 10, 2011 at Johnson Mortuary from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be celebrated on Friday, March 11, 2011 at 9:30 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Somerton, followed by burial at Desert Lawn Memorial Park.
