Wayne passed away March 13, 2011. He was born in New Wilmington, PA on August 30, 1931. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy then became an inspiring teacher to many in the Yuma area.

Wayne taught in the Yuma Elementary School System from the early '60's until his retirement in 1989. In 1989 Wayne traveled to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia where he began teaching in the Embassy International School and later in a local university. He returned to Yuma in 1993.

Wayne was active in athletics his entire life as a participant and as an official. He enjoyed football, baseball, basketball, softball and tennis. Wayne took an active part in Yuma organizations including the American Legion and Elk Club. Wayne was a valued spokesman for the educational community. His proactive involvement in scholarship acquisitions and ongoing educational activities will most certainly be missed.

For the time I know I knew Wayne I knew he was a good man and a great teacher the kind of teacher we still need today. I bet that is what he is doing right now helping all those who cross over to know they are missed and love like he is.

Mr. Hutchison came to our school every year for our flag raising ceremony. We just saw him a few short weeks ago for this patriotic celebration. He always had interesting information to share with the students. This ceremony will not be the same without him. Our sincere condolences to his family.

Mr. Hutchison was my Social Studies and homeroom teacher at 4th Ave Jr High. Mr. Hutchison always treated me with respect, and a fatherly kindness. Through his "current Events" game he gave me the academic confidence to go on in school rather than quit. I am a better person for having been one of his students. The world will be a lesser place for his having passed. My condolences and prayers go out to the family.
