Robert G. (Bob) Moody, 89, died July 8, 2013 at his home in Yuma, AZ from pulmonary fibrosis.

He was born May 6, 1924 in Cottage Grove, OR to Terry H. and Kathleen (Allen) Moody.

Bob graduated from Cottage Grove High School in 1942 and enlisted in the Marines and served in the 1st Marine Division in WWII in the pacific area. He attended scout-sniper school in Australia, and was in the first wave ashore at Cape Gloucester and Peleliu. He was wounded in Okinawa and received the Purple Heart.

He married Phyllis Sorensen November 10, 1945 in Laguna Beach, CA. Their children are Terry Moody and Barbara White. They divorced and Bob then married Helen Joslin in Reno, NV in July 1962. Their children are Robert G. Moody, Jr. and Kathy Gray. They divorced and he married Merla (Cannady) Wright in Coburg, OR on June 13, 1970.

Bob worked as an accountant for Floyd Githens Ford in Cottage Grove; owned a Ford dealership in Independence, OR; worked for Gunderson Bros. in Eugene; then worked for Transport Equipment Co. in Seattle, WA for 16 years, retiring as Vice President and Treasurer in 1988. He returned to Cottage Grove until 2004 when he moved to Yuma, AZ.

Bob was a charter member and life member of the Elks Lodge in Cottage Grove. Also a member of the Moose Lodge, VFW, AMVETS, American Legion, Cottage Grove Prospectors and Cottage Gove Genealogical Society. He enjoyed traveling, hunting, fishing, baseball and reading.

Survivors include his wife, Merla, four children, Terry (Statia) Moody of Kalispell, MT; Barbara (Dan White of Cottage Grove, OR; Robert G. Moody, Jr. (Karla) of Sherwood, OR and Kathy (Brad) Gray of Beaverton, OR; two stepsons, Dennis ("Beanie") Wright of Elmira, OR and Larry (Paula) Wright of Eugene, OR; a sister Joan Divers of Yuma, AZ; 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by parents and brothers, Richard moody of Eugene, OR and Donald Moody of Bend, OR.

Arrangements in care of Sunset Vista Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will be held at the Moose Lodge in Yuma, 13441 S. Frontage RD at 2pm on August 5. Burial will be at the Fir Grove Cemetery in Cottage Grove, OR with arrangements there in care of Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Home. Contributions may be made to Hospice of Yuma, 1824 S 8th Avenue, Yuma AZ 85364-5517.
