Francis Kerr Obituary

Kay was born in La Porte, Indiana July 12, 1943. She went to be with Our Lord Jesus, Tuesday April 5, 2011.

Kay is survived by her daughter, Deborah Giangreco; son-in-law, Dr. Atilio Giangreco (Yuma); grandsons, Austin Burt (Palm Springs, CA) and Papo Giangreco; daughter-in-law, Tammy Davis; granddaughter, Shelbi Davis (Longmont, CO); sister, Claudette Kerr (Fort Stockton, TX); niece, Vicki Mitchell; nephew Tony Brooke (Fort Stockton, TX). Kay is also survived by many friends who loved her and will miss her dearly. Kay went by many aliases, "Grand Mimi," "Granny," "La Gran," and "Ms Texas."

Kay had many life experiences including being a hairstylist and working at Doctors offices. She loved her job at Giangreco Medical Group and gave all of her love to the patients. She lived all over the United States with her family and pets (especially her pet Javalina, Cecil). Kay enjoyed swimming, people, animals, painting, and above all she treasured her time with her grandchildren. Kay is a strong believer of organ donation. In the prime of her life she donated her kidney to her son, Roy Blake Davis who suffered from End Stage Renal Disease. By this donation she graciously gave him life by allowing him to marry the love of his life Tammy and welcome his precious baby girl Shelbi into the world.

Kay was a woman of Faith. Our hearts ache with sadness that she was taken from us so soon, however, we trust our Father in heaven in that she has gone to be with him and be reunited with her loving son, R.B. Davis. Kay lived by the verse, "I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all this through Christ who gives me strength." Philippians 4:12-13.

There will be a Celebration of Life Ceremony to remember Kay on Friday April 8th at 3pm. For more information please contact the office of Giangreco Medical Group.

In lieu of flowers Kay would be humbled to have donations sent to Del Sol Cancer Foundation "Patients Helping Patients." 1951 W. 25th St. Suite F, Yuma, AZ 85365

Like all of our 1961 classmates and friends, I was deeply saddened when notified of Kay's death. Our condolences to her family and many friends.

I best remember Kay during our 30th, 35th and 40th Class reunions when we shared some very pleasant memories of our high school years. Also, she took the initiative during these reunions to read our bios and congratulate and "roast" our adventures, experiences and accomplihsments, as only Kay could do.

Due to the wonder of the Internet, this is the first timely notification I have received of the death of one of our 1961 classmates. It is comforting to know that the Internet will serve to keep our Class of 1961 informed and connected now and into the future.

We are all looking forward to our 50th Reunion in Fort Stockton in October 2011 and Kay will be deeply missed.

Kay Kerr is among my most pleasant memories of our hometown of Fort Stockton, Tex. We were in high school together and worked together evenings and weekends at the local movie theater. We double-dated together, and I used to pretend to be her date so she could get out of her house to go with the guy she later married, who her parents didn't want her dating. And she witnessed one of my most dramatic breakups with the girl who later became my first ex-wife. Kay and I shared a lot of adventures and so many laughs back then and remained dear friends all these years. I'd go to the end of the world for that lady--and sometimes thought I'd have to! I still see her in my mind as she was each summer back then, a lovely blonde with a dazzling smile and the greatest tan from hanging out every spare moment at the Comanche Springs swimming pool.

This world was a better place when you were in it, Kay. I miss you terribly.
