John Sofie Obituary
He left home at an early age and worked for farmers in the area. In 1948, he joined the U.S. Navy and was stationed on a destroyer most of the time until his honorable discharge in 1957. In 1958, he became a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 302. He worked on the North Slope of Alaska during the 70's.
He married his childhood sweetheart, Beegee, in 1954. Three sons were born to them. They made their home in the Seattle, Washington area.
After retiring, they sold their home, traveled with a 5th wheel trailer in the summers, and lived on a lot in the Foothills of Yuma, Arizona. In 2001 they had a house built on the lot and lived permanently in Yuma. John played guitar and sang with his wife for many years.
He leaves his beloved wife of 57 years, son, two sisters, two brothers, and many grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons.

Our hearts ache at the passing of our beloved father-in-law and grandpa. We are so grateful for the gift both John and Beegee gave to us-their oldest son. John we will miss you but know we will see you again. We are so glad you are no longer in any pain. We love you. Thank you for loving us.
