Roy Howry Obituary

Roy Lee Howry was born Jume 12, 1920 in Mountain Air, New Mexico. He grew up in South East Texas as one of eleven brothers and sisters to parents Lucinda and Nealy Monroe Howry. Dad was a heavy equipment mechanic. He worked for Arrow Construction and later retired from Tanner Companies. Roy was married to his loving wife, Pauline for 66 years, who preceded him in death in 2007.
Roy was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his son, David (Cheri) Howry; daughter, Twyla (Mike) Daily; grandchildren, Dana Miles, Treva Howry, Justin Daily and Adam (Bobbie Jo) Daily; great-grandchildren, Tanner Miles and Kash Wellard; brothers, Narvel Howry of Phoenix, Arizona and CB Howry of Moreno Valley, California. The family would also like to give a special thank you to nephew, Clinton Gregston.
Dad loved his family very much and loved us all unconditionally. We will miss you and love you "more than you will ever know."
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice of Yuma. A graveside service will be held at Desert Lawn Memorial Park Thursday, April 14, 2011 at 10:00am.

I can't believe he's been gone for 8 years already. I'll always remember Roy always wanting to chat, watering his grass (he loved the outdoors, even the Yuma heat) Best friend and neighbor ever. Miss you and Pauline!

The best thing I loved about Roy and Pauline - they were always just Roy and Pauline - two of the most genuine people that I will ever know. They had a great, warm, and comfortable home, and you know what - life treated them good - hope some of that rubbed off on all of us. Love - Karen Johnson

My father(T.P. Reagan)worked with Roy at Arrow construction and my husband(Mickey Thomas)worked with him at Tanner. They both thought he was a great man. I had the pleasure of meeting him and totally agreed. I know you all will miss him terribly, but know you were blessed with the best. You are in our prayers,
Mickey and Madonna(Reagan)Thomas

I have been blessed to have the Howry Family as my closest friends for 47 years. What a privilege it has been. I learned a lot from all of them; however I learned about humility and love from Roy. He was a 'great' man, with a limitless heart, wisdom beyond his years, and chocked full of integrity.
Roy and Pauline modeled the Golden Rule. Saying that I will miss them is an understatement. They own a huge piece of my heart, and I am thankful every day that I was allowed to be a small part of their lives.
My prayers go out to Twyla (Baby Girl), David, Cheri, and Mike, along with all the grand kids. I'm sorry to see this part of their journey come to an end, we have so much more to talk about around the kitchen table, however it was time for Dad, to go home and be with Pauline! I can just imagine the conversations they'll have in Heaven...
Sent lovingly,

April 13, 2011

Roy was my neighbor. Every day Roy would be outside watering the grass. He was so much fun to talk to and often told stories of the past. Roy, you will be missed terribly.

I met Roy and Pauline a few years back; Pauline was my wife's AVON lady. We'd go and drop off orders and Roy would ask us in and had me sit in his living room. A perfect stranger and he just invited me in. They were one of a kind and will be missed
