William Hill Obituary

William "Bill" Richard Hill of Yuma, at age 52 was welcomed into Heaven March 24, 2011 at Banner Good Samaritan Hospital in Phoenix, AZ. He was born October 28, 1958 in Yuma to Leslie G. and Mary V. Hill.

Bill went to Crane Elementary School, was a 1976 Yuma High School graduate and graduated from Arizona Western College. He was also a 1983 graduate of Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff and he retired as a Data Reduction Technician at Yuma Proving Grounds.

Bill was a loving son, brother and uncle. He was a wonderful friend, a generous person and he doted on his nephews. We all loved him and he will be greatly missed until we meet again in Heaven.

Bill was preceded in death by his father, Leslie G. Hill. Bill is survived by his mother, Mary V. Hill; sister, Patricia (Willie) Hodges; nephews, Jordan Howard, Michael and Cameron Hodges; numerous extended family members and friends including his beloved cat, Orbee, all of Yuma.

A celebration of life memorial service will be held at a later date.

Missing you every day...

I don't think theres any period of time that goes by that I don't think about you, or some aspect of my life that hasn't been affected by your teachings or memories.

Its still extremely hard sometimes, for us all to cope with your passing. I'd like to think you're around every time I hear Rush on the radio, or whenever I go down to the house to water/clean up. I try to save a bit of Chinese food from the places I go, because I know of your affinity towards Chinese food. I could say a million things about how your life has impacted mine, but I plan on saving that for when I have kids, and are able to pass along our memories together to them.

For now, just know that we all miss and love you dearly. I'll see you around.

Dearest Uncle,

The memories of your teachings will be immutably imbued into the very core of my being from now until the end of time. You taught me to question the world around me, and to seek the truth for myself. You were with me and my mother during the hard times, and throughout my adolescence, you were a constant source of guidance; a listener, a shoulder to cry on, a role model, someone to pick up Chinese, then go play computer games. It is because of you that I have an affinity towards computers and security - derived from me sitting on your lap and crashing the F15 simulator on your C64. It is because of you that I play for the Pride of Arizona - started years ago when I found out you played brass for Yuma High, when I myself was starting music. It is because of you Starcraft will always be associated with you. It is because of you, my boundaries and horizons are limited only by how I approach life, something I gleamed by observing you over the years.

Your memory will inspire me and my progeny years beyond your phasing to another existence. Though you will be missed, I know that we will meet again.

Requiescat in Pace.

Mary and Tricia, I am so sad to hear of Bill's passing. He was in my first fifth grade class at "Old Crane". He was a nice young man, and it was a pleasure to see him from time to time over the past many years. God bless you and your family. Love, Carolyn Hoffmeyer
