Willard Jid Anderson, 86, passed away of a heart attack Friday, August 31, 2012. He was born June 5, 1926, in Yuma.

Willard was a lifetime member of the Yuma Sheriff's Posse and Yuma Jaycees, he was also a member of the San Diego Cyclo-vets. He received his Bachelors degree from ASU. Willard was an award winning master cyclist who won over 150 medals and trophies.

At age 80 he rode his bike from Mexico to the Canadian border and back again in 2006. Bill is a veteran of WWII and the Korean War. He graduated from ASU and was the first "Sparky" the Sun Devil mascot for ASU.

Willard is survived by his wife, Beryl Anderson; daughters, Debbie Anderson Foerstner, Carol (Terry) Baker, and Brenda (Cully) Kern; sister, Deanie Anderson Holbrook; step-brother, Bill Walker; sister-in-law, Norma Stern-Stone; grandchildren, Ryan (Deanna) Foerstner, Billy Foerstner, Jason (Janna) Baker, Laurie (Angus) Brown, Justin (Jineane) Baker, Clinton Kern, and Erica Kern; great-grandchildren, Delaney Foerstner, Addyson Foerstner, Jordan Baker, Jaymi Baker, Wyatt Brown, Weston Brown, and Brooklyn Brown. He was preceded in death by his father, W.J. Anderson Sr.; mother, Joyce Washburn Anderson; step-mother, Eunice Anderson; step-brothers, S.L. "Sparky" Walker and Rudy Walker.

A visitation will be held Thursday, September 6, 2012, at Funeraria del Angel from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. A mass is scheduled for 9:30 A.M. Friday, September 7, 2012, at 1st Christian Church. Pastor Jerry Elzey will officiate. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Jason Baker, Angus Brown, Justin Baker, Ryan Foerstner, Billy Foerstner, and Clinton Kern. Honorary pallbearers will be Terry Baker and Cully Kern, and great-grandsons, Wyatt and Weston Brown.
