John Dale "Auggie" Collins III Obituary
John Dale Collins, III, "Auggie," 49, beloved son, brother, father, and grandfather went to be with the Lord on February 9, 2014. Born on December 2, 1964, in Phoenix, Arizona, he is survived by mother Janice Emerson, sons Elias (Veronica) and Seth Collins, daughter Javanne Collins, grandchildren Elias, Jr., Aiyana, and Isabella Collins, siblings Ryan Schurz and Allyson Collins, grandmother Henrietta Laffoon Emerson, uncle Keith Emerson, Aunts Gretta Collins Federico, Charlene and Marsha Emerson, and numerous relatives on the Fort Yuma, Salt River, and CRIT Reservations. He was preceded in death by his father John Collins, grandparents Benjamin and Cecilia Collins, and Fred H. Emerson, uncle Loren Emerson, Sr., Aunt Jonell Hill, cousins Andrea Juan and Camille Brower.

Auggie earned his high school diploma from Job Corps in Chula Vista, California. Inspired by his late grandfather Fred's carpentry skills, he earned a carpentry certificate, which he used in his construction employment. His hobbies included playing guitar, drawing free hand art, hanging with his bros Edison and Charlie, and watching sports. He had a charismatic and generous nature to all he met and whose lives he touched.

Two celebrations of Life will be held at Yuma Mortuary on February 14, 2014 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and at the Salt River Memorial Hall, Scottsdale, Arizona, at 7:00 p.m., and burial at the Salt River Cemetery on the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community on Saturday, February 15, 2014 at 8:00 a.m.

Pallbearers will be Isaac Collins, Anthony Collins, Sr., Mike and Terry Villalpando, Jason Lomaintewa, Sr. Loren Emerson, Jr., Preston Jr. and Mickey Scott, Boyd, Jr., Steven, and Edward Hill, Matthew Juan Bryan Talaswaima, Brandon Frank, Shayne and Ryan Takala, Sheldon Durand, Michael Salinas, Joseph Barton, Blake Laurenzana and Chaz Tecumseh.

Honorary Pallbearers are Elias, Sr. and Seth Collins, Ryan Schurz, Keith, Arlie, and Philbrick Emerson, Sr., Charles Juan. Edison Johnson, Mark Porter, Herman, Jr. and Kenton Laffoon, Michael Throssell, Eric, Edward, Sr. and Aaron Livas, Mattias Howard, Larry Laurenzana and Jose Miguel.

The family thanks the staff of the Fort Yuma I.H.S. and Rural Metro for always providing him quality care and compassion; and the Salt River and Quechan Indian Tribes.
