Martha L. Arvizu, 70, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family early Saturday morning, April 5, 2014 at her home. She was born in Yuma and was a graduate of Yuma High School. She retired from Yuma Union High School District and worked as an Attendance Clerk at Kofa. She loved spending time with her family and her pets. Always smiling, she loved to pull jokes on her family. She also enjoyed traveling, going to the movies with her friends and playing pokeno on Sundays. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Martha is preceded in death by her parents, Francisco "Chico" and Josefa Arvizu; brother, Frank Arvizu; sister, Dora Marquez.

Martha is survived by her son, Joe (Cindy) Bocio; daughter, Monica (Bill) Tracy; 10 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; sister, Mary Helen De Los Reyes; brother, Roy Arvizu; many nephews and nieces.
In remembrance, her wish is to make all women aware of Lung cancer.1 in 5 women that are non-smokers run the risk of developing non-small cell carcinoma.
You will forever be in our hearts mom; our solace knows that we will all be together again. Thank you to all the nurses at YRMC on the 3rd floor for the excellent care that was given to our mother.
Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 10th at Johnson Mortuary, 1415 S. 1st Avenue, Yuma. Mass will be held at St. Francis Church at 10:30 a.m., 1815 S. 8th Avenue, Yuma. Entombment will be at Desert Lawn Memorial Park, followed by a gathering after the funeral at American Legion, 1490 W 3rd Street, Yuma. Pallbearers: Roy Arvizu, Bill Tracy, Eric Vega, Aaron Votion, Robyn McCormick, Angel Guerrero. Honorary Pallbearers: Allison McCormick, Gerald Casares, Jesse Casares.
