Mercedes "Chela" (Rocha) Zavala Obituary
Mercedes "Chela" Rocha Zavala, 87, of Yuma passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, May 8, 2014. She was born October 18, 1926 in Yuma, AZ. She worked hard all her able life as a domestic engineer. She will be missed deeply but we will see each other again in heaven.

Chela is survived by her sister, Catalina Fernandez of San Jose, CA; her six children, Ricardo (Socorro), Rafael (Etta), Mary Jessie, Rosa (Bill), Josefina (David) and Reymundo; 13 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her mother, Victoria Hurtado; her brothers, Isidro Hurtado and Raymundo Hurtado; and sister, Petra Magana.

A wake will be held on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. with the Rosary at 7 p.m. at Johnson Mortuary, 1415 S. 1st Avenue, Yuma. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at Immaculate Conception Church, 505 S. Avenue B, Yuma. Burial will follow at Desert Lawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be her grandsons and nephews. Johnson Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Donations may be made in her name to Hospice of Yuma, 1824 S. 8th Avenue, Yuma, AZ 85364. Thank you to all involved in her care.
