Angel M. Caballero, 89, passed away Sunday, July 20, 2014 at Yuma Regional Medical Center surrounded by loved ones. He was born April 17, 1925 in Yuma, AZ to Angel and Carmen Caballero. Angel attended North Gila Valley and Yuma High School He joined the U.S. Army from July 3, 1943 to December 8, 1945 as a Corp. Engineer. He served with the 209th Engineer Battalion in Burma and served in World War II. Angel received the following awards Asiatic Pacific Theater ribbon, Good Conduct Medal along with the Distinguished Unit Badge, and the Victory Medal. After serving the Army, he married Gregoria Chavez in 1949 and together they raised eight children. He worked as a farm laborer and retired as a Foreman from Magco Farms. Angel was a devoted Catholic and member of the Immaculate Conception Church. He loved spending time with the family, telling them stories of his life, which his family loved to listen to. Angel also loved playing the guitar, other musical instruments, singing, and carpentry. He enjoyed helping anyone in need and had a helping hand in raising some of his grandchildren. Angel was a wonderful person, husband, father, and grandfather.

Angel is survived by his wife, Gregoria Caballero; sons, Juan (Karen) Caballero, Richard Caballero, and Rueben (Maria) Caballero; daughters, Carmen Caballero, Patricia Coleman, and Christina (Mike) Lasich; step-mother, Carlota Caballero; 20 grandchildren; and 19 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Alex Caballero; daughter, Pricilla Caballero; grand-daughter, Jennifer Silva; grandson, Johnny Aldama; brothers, Angel Caballero and Alfred Caballero.
A Viewing will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. with a Service at 10:00 a.m. at Johnson Mortuary Chapel, 1415 S. 1st Avenue, Yuma.
