Mr. Richard J. "Dick" Leeper

Obituary Condolences

Richard J. Dick Leeper passed away on August 16, 2008 in Yuma after a long illness. He turned 68 years old one day prior to his passing. He was born on August 15, 1940 in Kalispell, Montana and spent his entire life growing up in Yuma surrounded by many family and friends. Dick graduated from Yuma High School in 1958 and attended University of Arizona for three years before returning to Yuma to join his father in the family business. He worked along side his father running Leeper Studebaker Jeep until it closed in 1974. Dick began working for Pasquinelli Produce Company in 1975 and enjoyed a long relationship with the company until he retired in 2004.
Dick is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Shari; daughters, Joely (Gabe) Beck, from Yuma, and her children, Kaden, Kael, Jacob and Joab; Darci (Charles) Barton, of Carlsbad, Calif., and her children, Amara, Alex, Austin, Jentry, Ryan, Beau, Maci and Demi. He is also survived by his brother and sisters, Bill (Sandii) Leeper, Barbara (Gary) Pasquinelli and Diana (Bill) Solarski; and many special nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Gladys Leeper; and father, Harry Cy Leeper.
DickÕs love for fine cars was evident at an early age, with drag racing and stock car racing among his favorite past times. DickÕs other hobbies were golfing, hunting and deep sea fishing. He was a very talented craftsman and loved spending time on remodeling jobs, fixing or repairing equipment and lending a hand to neighbors and friends. All who knew him felt this was his special gift...giving of his time to help others.
DickÕs greatest blessings were his two daughters and his grandkids.... who affectionately called him POPO. This may have been his greatest role! He was a loving and devoted father, husband, and grandfather who will be greatly missed.
Funeral mass will be held at St. Francis of Assisi on Friday, August 22, 2008 at 11 a.m. with Father Chris Orendorf and Deacon Gary Pasquinelli officiating. Pallbearers will be Tony Leeper, Charles Barton, Gabe Beck, Alex Ortega, Austin Ortega and Ryan Barton.
Special thanks to the staff at Priority Care Assisted Living and to Hospice of Yuma for their loving and compassionate care! In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Yuma.
Brodey says goodbye to his best friend!
