Clara E. Garrett
ZANESVILLE: Clara E. Garrett, age 95 years, of Zanesville, Ohio went to her home in heaven with her family standing by her side on January 22, 2013 at the Genesis Morrison House.
Clara was born May 7, 1917, in New Concord, Ohio the daughter of Anna Deitrick Jones and Fred H. Jones of Nashport, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Homer. H. Garrett who passed on September 15, 1982. He was a civil engineer with the State of Ohio. Clara was also preceded in death by four of her five sisters and one brother: Carl Jones; Ruby (Forest) Taylor; Margaret (Donald) Wheeler; and Mary (Nick) Baker.
Clara is survived by her two sisters: Alta (Eugene) Thorla of Chandersville, Ohio and Gladys (Robert) Murphy of Lake Worth, Florida; her son, Larry (Paula) Garrett of Austin, Texas; two daughters: Anna (Anne) (David) Hammer of Pickerington, Ohio; and Rebecca (Becky) (Richard) Stafford of Dresden, Ohio; her four grandchildren: Scott (Dedra) Garrett of Rowlett-Dallas, Texas, Brighton (Randi) Hammer of The Woodlands in Houston, Texas, Roxanne (Steven) Hutchison of Dresden, Ohio, and Rachel (Jason) Hindel of Dresden, Ohio; her seven great grandchildren: Kylee, Kayden, and Kelly Garrett of Rowlett-Dallas Texas; Brandon Hammer of Pickerington, Ohio; Atticus Hammer, of The Woodlands-Houston, Texas; Dakota Stafford and Makayla Hutchison of Dresden and many nieces nephews and friends.
Clara was a loyal and active member of the Euclid Avenue Methodist Church since the early sixties and president of the United Christian Woman's Association for several years. The love of her life was spending time with her family members and close friends. Clara enjoyed being outdoors and keeping active.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M on January 28, 2013, at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue in Zanesville, with Reverend Jeff Howard officiating. Clara will be laid to rest next to her husband and parents at the Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery, Military Road, Zanesville, Ohio. Friends may call one hour prior to the service.
