Jean Ann Butcher ZANESVILLE: Jean Ann Butcher, age 87, of Zanesville, passed away 12:40 AM, Monday, April 20, 2015 at Genesis Morrison House Hospice. She was born Tuesday, December 20, 1927 in Marietta, the daughter of Wesley Lancaster and Eloise (Hawk) Lancaster. She was married to Isaac Butcher who preceded her in death on November 22, 1995. She attended Trinity Full Gospel Church. She was employed at one time at Essex Wire and then Brockway Glass where she retired. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Many people referred to her as grandma, and she will be greatly missed. She is survived by nine children; Robert Butcher, Terry (Connie) Butcher, Linda McLain, Robin Butcher, Steve Butcher, Billie Butcher, Todd Butcher, Michele Butcher, and Lisa Butcher; numerous grandchildren, great and great great grandchildren; one special grandchild, Gabby Butcher, two brothers; Richard "Dickie" Lancaster and Mike Lancaster; two sisters, Jerrie Green, Judy Cooper, and special friend Annie Sowers. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Bruce Butcher; one daughter, Rose Marie Butcher; and two granddaughters, Debbie and Diane Butcher; and one sister, Karen Bailey. Friends may call from 11:00 AM to 1:00PM Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at the Hillis, Combs & Nestor Funeral Home, 935 Forest Avenue, Zanesville, where a funeral service will be held 1:00 PM with Rev. Terry L. Rowland officiating. Burial will conclude in the Woodlawn Cemetery. There will be a funeral luncheon following the committal service at Trinity Full Gospel. William J. Bird PLAINFIELD, IN: William J. Bird of Plainfield, IN passed away peacefully in his home with his family on Sunday, April 19, 2015. Bill was born January 19, 1925 to Asa G. and Maude M. (Boring) Bird in Kansas City, Kansas. Bill is survived by his wife of over 69 years, Betty Jane (Cunningham) Bird of Plainfield; daughter, Connie (Bird) Moore-Altschwager of Indianapolis; son, William J. Jr. (Linda Crawshaw) Bird of Zanesville, OH; grandchildren, Jennifer Moore (Bill) Cooper of Indianapolis, Cindy Moore (Bill Kingery) of Camby, Ron Jr. (Cheri DePerry) Moore of Plainfield, Laura (Scott) Crates of Findlay, OH, and William J. III (Kelly Hainline) Bird of Painesville, OH; and great-grandchildren, Jacob and Tyler Cooper, Maddy Moore, Cody Kingery, Ronnie and Cohen Moore, Molly, Maggie, Luke and Nick Crates, Landon, Blake and Gavin Bird. He is preceded in death by his parents, Asa and Maude Bird; two brothers, Davey Dick and Robert Wayne Bird. Bill retired in 1987 after more than 30 years as an Engineer for Allison Motors Division of General Motors, building and testing F-84 jet engines. Bill was an avid fisherman and gardener throughout his life, was an officer in the Big Elbow Lake (Waubun, MN) Homeowners Association, was an active supporter of the Elbow Lake Fire Department and Auxiliary, served as Optimist Club International Governor of Indiana, was an accomplished stained glass artist specializing in making Tiffany designed lampshades and was a member of Camby Community Church, Camby, IN. Bill's family invites you to a Celebration of Life Service at 1 pm, Sunday, April 26, 2015 at Camby Community Church, 8604 Camby Road, Camby, IN 46113 with visitation preceding from noon to 1 pm. Melvin "Butch" Butcher ZANESVILLE: Melvin "Butch" Butcher 73 of Zanesville, passed away Sunday April 19, 2015 at Genesis Hospice Morrison House. He was born on November 2, 1941 in Anderson, IN to the late Dariel and Evelyn Castle Butcher. Butch was a loving husband, father,grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a truck driver for many years and enjoyed many hobbies, especially riding his Harley Davidson, NASCAR, watching the Cincinnati Reds and Ohio State football. He is survived by his wife of 40 years Shelby Dodson Butcher; daughter, Belinda (Alan) Paul of Geneva, IN.; son, Mark (Kris) Butcher York of Zanesville; sister, Annabelle (Norman) Kunce of Defiance, OH.; twin brother, Elvin Butcher of Richmond, IN., sister, Mary (Dave) Johnson of Portland, IN.; grandchildren, Jaime (Jarrod) Herman of Petroleum, IN, Shannon (Ty) Cox of Zanesville, Adam York of Zanesville; great-grandchildren, Avery and Paul Herman, Xander Cox; mother-in-law, Dorothy Dodson of Zanesville; sisters-in-law, Lala Gullet, Judy (Rudy) Stanbery; brothers-in-law, Clyde (Roxanne) Dodson, Jr., Floyd (Kristy) Dodson, Jeff (Chris) Dodson, and Craig (Joyce) Dodson; many nieces and nephews, special nephew, Allen Stanbery, his riding buddy Dennis Sommers.
