Crystal E. Clarke Murnahan SPRINGFIELD: Crystal E. Clarke Murnahan, 56, of Springfield formerly of Malta died on Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at the Springfield Regional Medical Center. She was born on July 14, 1958 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Ralph and Lena Forester Clarke. She spent her life as a homemaker taking care of her children and family. She is survived by her husband, John Murnahan of the home; one son, Jeremy (Brandy) Clarke of Columbus; three daughters, Tonya (Robert Burchnell) Stant of Newark, Teyka Stant of Springfield and Mirlie (James Harper) Harris of Springfield; two brothers, Ralph Clarke and Mickey Clarke both of Malta; one sister, Twilia Murnahan of Springfield; and nine grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents. Services will be held on Friday, March 27, 2015 at 1:00 P.M. at the Matheney Funeral Home in McConnelsville with burial following in the Malta Cemetery. Alwood, Beatrice  
Beatrice J. Alwood ZANESVILLE: Beatrice J. Foy Alwood, 94, of Zanesville, passed away on Tuesday, March 24, 2015, at her home. She was born June 21, 1920, in Zanesville, a daughter of the late William C. and Grace Burgoon Foy. She had retired after 27 years from Stanley Home Products in 1978, was a lifelong member of Central Presbyterian Church, taught water aerobics for 15 years at the Fieldhouse, and she loved Ballroom Dancing and Golf. Surviving are her daughters, Judith K. (Lee) Haecker of Sequin, TX, and Jacquilene S. Bowers of Cincinnati; grandchildren, Christine (Ken) Bhirdo, Brian (Mary) Gorley, Scott (Leslie) Gorley, Elaine (Jeff) Sproull, Jill (Kevin) Wuest, Brooke (Angel) Cabrera, Eric (Adalia) Gorley, and Andrew (Ruth) Bowers; 14 great grandchildren; many great great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; and special friends, Joann Jividen, Cathy Higgenbotham, and Barbara Amstutz, all of Zanesville. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John E. Alwood, whom she married April 22, 1938, and who died May 22, 1999; a daughter, Sondra L. Gorley who died November 19, 2011; sisters, Pauline Vickers, Juanita Kearney, Mildred Weidig, Gertrude Cohen, Lillian Krause, Harriet Davidson, Dorothy Jean Osborne, and Margorie Grasley; brother, John A. Foy; and a granddaughter, Elizabeth Haecker. No calling hours will be observed; per Beatrice's wishes, a dignified cremation will take place and she will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband John at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery, Zanesville. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date at Central Presbyterian Church. Arrangements were entrusted to the BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE. John L. Brown ZANESVILLE: John L Brown, 65, of Nashport, passed away at 7:34 am Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at Good Samaritan Medical Center E.R. He was born November 12, 1948 in Zanesville, the son of the late Rex and Pearl Murphy Brown. He was formerly employed by Burnham Boiler and Putnam Transfer Trucking Co. He is survived by his wife, Marsha Alexander Brown of the home; sons, John R. Brown, Jr. and Paul (Andrea) Brown; daughter, Ruth N. Brown; brothers, Bobby and Jerry Brown; granddaughters, Michaela, Abbigal and Izabellah; great grandsons, Carson and Tommy; two pet dogs, Levi and Peebles. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by brothers, Rex and Joe; and sisters, Shirley and Wanda. Knicely, Loren  
Loren H. Knicely ADAMSVILLE: Loren H. Knicely, 73, of Adamsville, Ohio died Sunday evening, March 22, 2015 at Genesis Morrison House in Zanesville, Ohio after an extended illness. Born August 1, 1941 in Adamsville, he was a son of the late Donald H. and Margaret R. (Gosser) Knicely and was a 1959 graduate of Adamsville High School. Loren was a retired farmer raising beef cattle, crops and hay. He was also a retired machinist from the Conesville power plant. Loren was a life-long member of New Hope Lutheran Church and former member of the church council. For 35 years he was treasurer of the New Hope Cemetery Association. He was a member of Hubbard Lodge #220, F. & A. M. in Adamsville, the Ancient & Accepted Order of Scottish Rite, Valley of Cambridge, the Muskingum County Farm Bureau and the Adamsville Alumni Association. He was also a former member of Eureka Grange and the Adamsville Community Fire Department. Loren enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, traveling, gardening and participating in tractor pulls. He was also very proud of his tractor collection. Loren was very community minded and volunteered in all the many area activities. He was an exceptional individual who was loved and respected by all who knew him. Surviving is his wife, Connie (Hladek) Knicely whom he married August 18, 2000; a son, Bryan Knicely of Evansville, Indiana; a daughter, Lori (David) Regan of Berkley, California; two granddaughters, Skylar and Madeline Regan, a brother, David (Kathie) Knicely of Adamsville. Also surviving are four nephews and their families. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Emily Knicely and a brother, Paul Knicely. Calling hours will be 3pm to 7pm Thursday, March 26, 2015 at the New Hope Lutheran Church, 7025 Adamsville-Otsego Road, Adamsville. Funeral services will be 11:00am Friday, March 27, 2015 at New Hope Lutheran Church with Pastor Mary Molnar officiating. Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery. Rodgers, Pauline Marie  
Pauline Marie Rodgers ATHENS: Longtime Athens resident, Pauline Marie Rodgers passed on into The Lord's hands from her daughters home in Jacksonville Alabama at the age of 90 on March 23, 2015. She was born June 8, 1924 in Moxahala, Ohio, one of nine children of Leo and Madeline Clifford Kiener. Pauline was married to Dr. James E. Rodgers and was the mother of eight children. She was a graduate of Ohio University and had a long career as an educator beginning in McCluney, Ohio and continuing in the Alexander and Nelsonville York School systems. She was an active parishioner and volunteer at Christ the King Catholic Church in Athens where she was involved in religious education, food bank and various other functions. Pauline was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James; children, James, John, Mary Elizabeth, Gerald and Richard. She was also preceded by siblings (and spouses), Paul (Cele), Robert (Betty), William (Mary), Joseph, Rita (Joseph) Humphrey, Madeline (Edward) Blaire II; brothers-in-law, Patrick Irwin, Kenneth Leonard, William Rodgers; sisters-in-law (and spouses), Christine Chiplinski, Fontelle (Clyde) Thomas, Olivia (Charles) Harris, Barbara (Joseph) Altier and Gertrude (Robert) Burns. Surviving are her children (and spouses), Paul (Mary), Donald (Sherri) both of Columbus, Ohio and Anne (Michael) Herndon of Jacksonville, Alabama. She is also survived by her sisters, Mary Leonard of Columbus, Elizabeth Irwin of Houston, Texas; and sisters-in-law, Rita Kiener of Columbus Ohio and Lila Rodgers of Washington Courthouse, Ohio. Pauline also had ten grandchildren; one great grandchild; and a very large extended family of nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be from 4:00 to 7:00pm Thursday 3/26/15 with a vigil at 6:30 at Jagger's and Sons Funeral Home, 24 Morris Ave Athens, Ohio. A Mass Christian Burial will be held at 11:00am Friday, March 27, 2015 at Christ the King Catholic Church 75 Stewart St. Athens with Father Donald Horak celebrant. Graveside services will be conducted at 2:30pm on Friday at Maplewood Cemetery, New Lexington. Services have been entrusted to the J.E. HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME, Shawnee.

She was born September 14, 1929, in Cleveland, Ohio the daughter of the late Laurence and Marguerite Hingburger Myers. She was a 1948 graduate of Lash High School, a long-time member of First Christian Church and a volunteer at Genesis Hospice and Palative Care. She is survived by daughter Sandy Armstrong, granddaughter Jessica Moore and great granddaughter Alivea Moore, and companion Kenneth Pyles.
