Roberta E. Atsalis WINTERSVILLE: Roberta E. Atsalis, 68, of Wintersville, Ohio died Sunday, May 24, 2015 at Valley Hospice Care Center North. She was born January 19, 1947 in Steubenville, Ohio a daughter of the late Robert and Margaret Davidson Steele. Roberta was a loving wife, mother and grandmother "Yia Yia". She was a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church. Roberta graduated from Mingo Junction High School and retired from Macy's after 11 years of service. Surviving are her beloved husband of 40 years, Pete Atsalis; children, Doug (Mysti) Hobson of Zanesville, OH, Hope M. (Matt) Davis of Hopedale, OH and George R. Atsalis of Bloomingdale, OH; and four grandchildren, Kyle and Kaitlyn Hobson of Zanesville, OH and Niko and Lexa Davis of Hopedale, OH. Friends may call at Dunlope - Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville on Wednesday 4-8 p.m. and at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, Steubenville on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral at 11 a.m. with Fr. Richard A. Bell HOPEWELL: Richard A. Bell, 44, of Zanesville, died at 9:00 A.M. on Thursday, May 21, 2015, at the Genesis Good Samaritan Emergency Room. He was born December 23, 1970, in Zanesville, a son of Margaret R. Koska Bell of Zanesville and the late Donald R. Bell. He was a Veteran of the United States Army, was an ordained minister in Georgia, a member of Reynoldsburg Lodge #340 F&AM, and had worked as a Security Officer for ODNR in Columbus. Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Michelle Fox Bell; a daughter Liberty Grace Bell of Hopewell; his loving friend Candice Willey of Hopewell; a brother Donald Bell of Zanesville; and two aunts, Doris Koska and Edna Koska, both of Chillicothe. Annabelle Bronkar NASHPORT: Annabelle Bronkar, 78, of Nashport, went to be with the Lord, May 23, 2015 at her residence. She was born January 18, 1937 in Zanesville, daughter of the late Robert and Hazel Landers. She was a homemaker who loved gardening and taking care of her family, doing small crafts and making homemade candies. Annabelle was a caring wife, mother, sister, aunt and grandmother. She is the mother of seven children, Cynthia (Ronald) Pandy, Earl F. Bronkar Jr., Clifford E. Bronkar, Lisa (Roger) Bonifant, Andrew L. Bronkar, Patricia S. (Jamie) Henry, Eric J. (Amy) Bronkar; brother, Bill Sharrer; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and little dog, Lucky. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Earl F. Bronkar Sr., one brother and two sisters. Calling hours will be held 4-7 pm Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at DeLong-Baker & Lanning Funeral Home and 10-11 am Thursday, May 28, 2015 where services will take place 11:00 am Wednesday. Brown, Jerry  
Jerry M. Brown CROOKSVILLE: Jerry M. Brown, 67, of Crooksville, passed away at 6:48 AM, Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at the Adams Lane Care Center in Zanesville following an extended illness. Jerry was born February 3, 1948 in Zanesville, the son of the late Mace and Mildred Bennett Brown. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. Jerry retired from Superior Fiberglass in Breman. Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Vickie Eveland Brown of Crooksville; his daughters, Tracey (Dave) Cowden of Frazeysburg and Sara Brown of Crooksville; his grandchildren, Victoria Cowden, Chase Brown, Hunter Brown, Emma Wilson, Alli Wilson and Parker Cowden; his niece, Jennifer Ray Swope; and his nephews, Kyle Eveland and Nathan Eveland. In addition to his parents, Jerry is preceded in death by his son, Jason Matthew Brown; his granddaughter, Ella Grace Cowden; and his sister-in-law, Dee Anne Eveland. A dignified cremation will occur, with a memorial service to be held at a later date. Jeanne Bruce NEW LEXINGTON: Jeanne Belle Buchman Bruce, 67, of New Lexington, Ohio passed away May 21, 2015 at Fairfield Medical Center Lancaster, Ohio. Jeanne was born April 5, 1948 in Hollister, Ohio to Clarence E. and Dorothy M Buchman. She loved the outdoors; enjoyed fishing and crocheting; and loved her family and her grandchildren around her. Surviving are her husband, Sammy D. Bruce, Sr., of Corning; loved by Alan Greenwood of New Lexington; children, Sammy D. (Lynn) Bruce Jr. of Andrews, S.C., Jana Lee Bruce of Athens, Beth Ann (Tony) Wilson of New Lexington, Dorothy Mae Young of Nelsonville, and Amy Lynn (Brad) Kirkpatrick of New Lexington; 23 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Carol (Don) Easterling of Murray City, Robert (Dian) Buchman of Hollister, and Larry (Sue) Buchman of Hollister. Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents; grandchild, Charles; sister and brother-in-law, Deanna and Bill Dotson; and brothers, Johnny and Michael Buchman. Gary "Burt" Burton REDFIELD: Gary "Burt" Burton, 57, of Redfield, went to be with the Lord at 3:38 a.m. on Friday, May 22, 2015 at Kobacker House Hospice. Gary was born December 13, 1957 in Zanesville, Ohio, the son of the late Brownie and Jean Sidor Burton. He was a member of Crooksville Pilgrim Holiness Church and a graduate of Zanesville High School. He was an over the road truck driver working for various trucking companies. Gary loved to walk, listen to music, and spoil his dog, Brutus. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Debbie Brown Burton of the home; one son, Dustin G. Burton of New Lexington; one daughter, Kayla Jean Burton (Andy) of the home; two sisters, Colleen (Raymond) Spink of Canada and Joanne (Mike) Murphy of Zanesville; two brothers, Larry (Debbie) Burton of New Philadelphia, Ohio and Tom (Marleigha) Burton of Kentucky; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. Careins, Austin  
Austin Michael Careins HEATH: A funeral service celebrating the life of Austin Michael Careins, age 21, of Heath, will be held at 4 p.m. on Friday, May 29, at The Heath Chapel of Henderson-Van Atta-Stickle Funeral & Cremation Service with Pastor Jeff Hawkins officiating. Austin passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, May 24, 2015. He was born June 26, 1993 in Zanesville. Austin was a 2011 Honors Graduate of Licking Valley High School. He participated in cross country, track and most importantly to him, wrestling. He was also a four year Varsity Letterman in wrestling and was a District Qualifier. He was very proud to be part of the Licking Valley Wrestling Family. He attended Florida Institute of Technology where he studied Astrophysics. Austin was currently employed with Relentless Recovery. Austin was a very intelligent man who was kind hearted, always thinking of others and enjoyed a challenge. Austin was able to brighten any room with his smile and gave the best hugs anyone could ever need. Austin lived life by a motto that most of us could not understand and he wore it proudly on his shoulder, "I do what I want". Austin believed that the only thing that mattered in life was that you were happy. Anyone who reads this should take a moment to look at your own life and find your own happy. He is survived by his parents, Troy and Chasity (Careins) Hartman of Heath; siblings, Kylee and Kelsey; grandparents, Jonathan and Dora Taylor of Hebron; maternal grandfather, Chuck Careins of Midland, TX; great-grandparents, Clyde and Violet Taylor of Greenfield, OH; grandparents, Danny and Phyllis Hartman of Philo; very special aunt and uncle, Lisa Burns and Brian Brake; his princesses (cousins), Misty, Lily and Emmy; biological father, Kerry Valentine and Shala Clements both of Zanesville; siblings, Kyle & Cooper; grandparents, Kerry and Linda Valentine of Zanesville; several aunts, uncles, cousins and a very close group of friends. He is also survived by very special secondary families, The Durant's, The Myers, The Biller's, The Workman's, The Harble's and The Stolte's. All of these families held a very special place in Autin's life and the immediate family is eternally grateful. He was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Doris and Clarence (Whitey) Cravenor and Chester Work; and grandmother, Verna Sue Valentine; aunt, Misty Dawn Careins. This fund will be used to create a scholarship award for Licking Valley High School Wrestlers.
