NEW CONCORD: Audrea Joseph Crawford of New Concord, was called Home on Wednesday, July 3rd while in the care of the Meridian Assisted Living Facility in Cambridge, OH. He was 95 years old. He was born January 1st, 1919 in Wheeling, West Virginia to Joseph Winfield Scott Crawford, I and Mary Elizabeth Crawford.

Audrea was an active man, who lived to serve. He belonged to the Booster Club, the Oddfellows, the American Legion, he helped start the Summer Baseball program, was a member of the Grange, he helped to bring the East Muskingum Swimming Pool to the area, was a primary member of the group that began the Fireman's Festival, and was, at one time, the Fire Chief of the New Concord Fire Dept. He was also proud session member of the College Drive Presbyterian Church, and served as a Trustee. He also proudly served as a member of the United States Navy.

He was an amazing story teller, and could spin yarns that would keep adults and children on the edge of their seats. He cherished children, and for him the most precious time spent was that with his family. Family time was very important to him. He enjoyed bowling, Square Dancing, fishing, hunting, and growing flowers in his garden. He was an amazing father, and a devoted husband.

Audrea is predeceased by parents, his brothers, George Crawford, Sr., Joseph Winfield Scott Crawford, II, Thomas Crawford, and the infant, Ardin Crawford; as well as his sisters, Grace Vickers, Mary Grandstaff, and Martha Archer.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 74 years, Faye Crawford; and their children, including his son, Larry Joseph (Sharon) Crawford, daughter, Barbara Noland-Ruble, his son, Audge (Denise) Crawford, his daughter, Alice (Ted) Ross, his daughter, Cynthia (Joe) West, and his daughter, Lonnie (Butch) Cutlip. He also leaves to mourn, his sisters, June Riggins, of Canton, Ethel McElory, of Byesville, and Joy Crawford, of New Concord; his brother, John Crawford of Cambridge; his sister-in-law, Maxine Brooks, of Newark; 19 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Friends and family may gather at the College Drive Presbyterian Church, located at 2 W High St, New Concord, OH, on Sunday, July 6th from the hours of 2 to 4PM and 6 to 8PM. Service for Audrea will be held on Monday, July 7th at the Church at 1PM, with Pastor Anne Weirich officiating. Burial will take place at Pleasant Hill Cemetery of New Concord. Farus Funeral Home of New Concord (Formerly the Mock-Miller Funeral Home) is handling services.
