Jerry Lee Dozer
NEW CONCORD: Jerry Lee Dozer entered God's Kingdom at 5:45PM on Thursday, January 30th at the Riverside Hospital while in the comforting presence of his loving wife and family. He was born on July 8th, 1941 in Zanesville, Ohio to Gerald and Kathryn Dozer. He was 72 years old.
Jerry was an amiable and affable man, who loved doing things for other people. He never had anything bad to say about anyone he met, and was always able to find something positive about someone. Jerry loved to talk, and would often get up at 2:30 in the morning an go to the corner restaurant on Friendship Drive just to make coffee for the girls. Anyone that stopped by for some fresh brew before they arrived was more than welcome to stay for a chat.
Jerry was an avid fisherman, and preferred going for the big Bass in the area, but he could also be found rooting for his teams, the Cleveland Indians and Browns, as well as the Ohio State Buckeyes. He also proudly served in the armed forces as an Airman 1st Class in the U.S. Air Force
. Jerry was a dedicated working man, and worked at Alloy Ferro, Seminole Tubular, Century 21, and found time to work as a bus driver.
Jerry married the love of his life, Kathy White, on May 22nd of 1999. They had 14 wonderful years together as a married couple, but had actually been in love with one another for 27 years. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Kathy Dozer; his children, Lisa Mitchell, Brian (Jennifer) Mitchell of Blue Rock, Staci (Cliff) Dowdell of Pickerington, Shannon Shropshire, and Step-children, Donald Kuhrig, Jr. of Summersville, S.C., and John (Amanda) Thomas. He also will be deeply missed by his grandchildren, Nicole and Jordan Keyes, Cayden Wilson, Brad and Jared Dowdell, Tre and Bryce Shropshire, Taylor Kahrig, Alliyah and Addison Thomas, and Sabrina Norman. Jerry also leaves his beloved and special Sister, Sue Burns of Zanesville; as well as a host of family, friends, and former co-workers who will never forget his affable smile and kind heart.
A viewing for Jerry will be held on Monday, February 3rd at the Farus Funeral Home in New Concord, formerly the Mock-Miller Funeral Home, 63 W. Main Street; with calling hours from 2-4PM, and 5-8PM. On Tuesday, February 4th there will be a viewing at 10AM, with services starting promptly at 11AM. Burial will be held at the Newark Memorial Gardens, 4244 Marion Rd NE, Newark, OH.
