Lawrence M. Kellenbarger
NEWARK: Funeral services for Lawrence M. Kellenbarger, 93, of Newark, will be held at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, 11:00 A.M., Friday, January 31, 2014 with Fr. Michael Reis and Rev. Mr. Deacon Robert Ghiloni as celebrants. Interment will follow in New Lexington Cemetery with military services provided by the John Tague Post of the American Legion New Lexington.
Lawrence, a graduate of Crooksville High School, died at his home on Saturday, January 25, 2014. He was born in Bremen, Ohio on May 11, 1920 to the late John and Agnes (Metzger) Kellenbarger.
Following graduation, Larry worked with the Wiseman Milk Company and started a plumbing and general contracting company. He was drafted into the United States Army and served during WWII
with the Army Corps of Engineers, traveling throughout much of Europe. Upon his return, Lawrence worked as a mechanical industrial contractor and started the Kel-Par Company Inc which he owned and operated until 2013.
A devout Catholic, Larry was a parishioner of St. Leonard Catholic Church, a 3rd Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, and member of the Catholic Laymen's Retreat League.
Larry was a 65 year member of the Journeymen Plumbers & Pipefitters Local 189, and member of the Ohio Farm Bureau, VFW
, AARP, Buckeye State Sheriff's Association, and The Works.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret (Cramer) Stephenson Kellenbarger, of the home; his children and their spouses, Michael and Dawn Kellenbarger of Gambier; Carmen and Timothy Porter of Newark, and Donna Stephenson of Heath; his 7 grandchildren, Blayze and Blayne Ellis, Jason, Justin, and Jeff Smith; and Ron and Rob Roundtree; 5 great-grandchildren; his brother, Robert Kellenbarger; his sister Madonna; many nieces and nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his first wife, Lillian (Buckingham) Kellenbarger; children, Linda Roundtree and Bill Stephenson; brothers, Charles and John; and sister, Marcella.
Friends and family may call at the funeral home from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. on Thursday, January 24, 2014.
