ZANESVILLE: Lloyd Richard Gibson, 86, of Zanesville passed away on Sunday August 4, 2013 at Genesis Hospice Morrison House. Lloyd was born in South Zanesville on December 1, 1926 to the late Albert and Avanelle Wahl Gibson.

Lloyd was a former co-owner, secretary/treasurer of Gibson Meat Packing for 40 years. He was Past President of Ohio Meat Packers Association and the National Meat Packers Association. He was also a member and past president of Zanesville Jaycee's and was instrumental in starting Jaycee's Golf Course. A 65 year member of Lafayette Lodge # 79 F&AM, participated in the Barbershop Quartet, and was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. Lloyd served our country and protected our freedom by serving in the US Navy Seabee's in the Pacific Theater of WWII. Lloyd will always be remembered for his caring ways, quick smile, and his willingness to help others.

Lloyd is survived by his loving wife of 40 years Ann Barbour Gibson of the home; two sons, Mark Gibson of Zanesville and Eric (Winnie) Gibson of Newark; two daughters Electa (David) Varnish of Brooklyn, NY and Stacy (Billy) Funk of Norwich; a sister Evelyn (Charles) Winegardner of Newark; four grandchildren, Hannah Dunn, Adison Varnish, Garrett Gibson, and Kelly Taylor.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers Grant Gibson and Floyd Gibson; a sister Ruth Prather.

Calling hours will be 6-8pm on Tuesday August 6 and one hour prior to the funeral at THE SNOUFFER FUNERAL HOME 1150 WEST MILITARY ROAD ZANESVILLE. Funeral service will be on Wednesday at 11am in The Snouffer Chapel with Pastor Dean Cole officiating. Burial with full military honors by George Selsam V.F.W. Post 1058 will follow in Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery.
